Side

After the Arabian invasions in the X. century and the pirates settled in Side, the people migrated to Antalya and the city was abandoned. In 1895 the Turkish immigrants from Crete were placed on the edge of the peninsula and over time the village grew to occupy the whole peninsula.

With the death of Prof.Dr.Arif Müfid Mansel, the Side excavations continued by Prof. Jale İnan continue on this day and restoration work is continuing. After the departure of the road, the city which was converted to the city and the main gate of the land walls belonging to BC II. in. This door resembles the Hellenistic Revolution gate in Perge
